Here is where I stand…
Like anyone, I have opinions and I have my own moral compass. I need to let those, along with the Constitution, guide me in my decision making. If I am fortunate enough to be elected, it is important to know that I will need to incorporate an additional guiding principle; the will of the majority of the citizens of Healdsburg. This may mean, at times, changing my original stance based on new facts, new perspectives, or a change in time or circumstance. In other cases, it may be that I need to acknowledge that I am in the minority and to effectively represent the community as a whole, I must be willing to accept that the community, as a whole, if provided the same background facts and information, must be honored. Below are my thoughts on issues that you likely have an opinion about. I hope this will give you some insight into who I am.
-
The Environment
I am not a climate change denier. I am deeply concerned about protecting our environment and addressing climate change because the impacts are already affecting our communities and will only grow more severe if we fail to act. We must pursue sustainable solutions that protect our natural resources while balancing fiscal responsibility to ensure practical, affordable, and lasting results for our community.
-
Community Engagement
The best decisions come from LISTENING. I believe in engaging residents early, seeking diverse perspectives, and making sure every voice has the opportunity to be heard.
-
Transparency & Accountability
Residents deserve open, transparent government. I support clear communication, accessible decision-making, and accountability for how public dollars are spent. As a council person, my job will be to represent the community not pursue my own agenda. It has become very clear to me that getting information out to residents, providing at least a summation of issues at hand and, in some cases, implementing a survey system to gauge the community input before decisions are made are all essential foundations of a community democracy.
-
Infrastructure
Reliable infrastructure is not optional. I support prioritizing investments in roads, sidewalks, utilities, and public spaces to protect public safety, maintain quality of life, and avoid more expensive repairs later.
-
Water & Drought Resilience
Protecting our water future means planning ahead, investing wisely in infrastructure, and promoting responsible stewardship of our resources. I do feel that Healdsburg is a little behind in its involvement in the Potter Valley project crisis and the plans to create the “Two Basin Solution”. We need to get involved to secure our water in the future. This is such a complex issue. Please email me and we can talk!
-
Affordable Housing
We need to continue to find housing solutions that help working families, seniors, and young people stay in our community while preserving the character and livability of our neighborhoods. This may mean re-visiting and re-structuring the current G.M.O. to balance development with preservation.
-
Affordable Living
Affordable living means more than just housing costs. Families and seniors in Healdsburg are feeling pressure from utility bills, increasing insurance costs, local fees, taxes, and the everyday expenses that make it harder to stay in the community they love. We need to evaluate every decision through the lens of affordability and work toward policies that keep Healdsburg accessible for working families, seniors, and future generations.
-
Public Safety
Keeping our neighborhoods safe means supporting first responders, investing in emergency preparedness, and ensuring residents feel secure in their homes, businesses, and public spaces.
-
Healthcare
Healthcare costs continue to place unnecessary strain on working families, seniors, and small businesses. While many healthcare decisions happen beyond the local level, I believe local leaders should advocate for affordable access to care and support programs that strengthen community health and well-being.
-
Economic Development
A strong local economy supports a strong community. I support policies that help small businesses succeed while maintaining the unique character that makes our city special. We need to expand our income streams to weather the changing financial and environmental shifts so that we are able to pivot and continue to thrive.
-
Growth & Development
Growth should be thoughtful and well-planned, ensuring new development supports infrastructure capacity, protects neighborhood character, and benefits the entire community.
-
Quality of Life
Strong communities invest in parks, recreation, community spaces, and programs that improve everyday life for residents of all ages. We need to continue this agenda.
-
Immigration Policy & Inclusion
I believe our community is strongest when every resident feels safe, respected, and able to participate in civic life without fear. While immigration policy is largely a federal issue, I oppose actions that undermine community trust and believe our focus should remain on safety, inclusion, and local priorities.
-
Flock Cameras
Public safety tools should strengthen our community without compromising the civil liberties that define it. I believe we should carefully re-evaluate Flock cameras, considering whether their benefits justify the privacy risks and ensuring strong protections exist for how collected data is stored, accessed, and shared. I have concerns that Flock cameras may create unintended risks around data collection, access, and misuse, particularly as large datasets become increasingly vulnerable to changing policies and outside use. We owe residents a thoughtful re-evaluation of whether these systems align with our community values.

Healdsburg's Role
Although Healdsburg is a small city of just under 12,000 residents, the decisions we make locally matter far beyond our city limits. Communities like ours help shape broader conversations by demonstrating what works, setting examples, and creating models for others to follow. Meaningful change often starts at the local level, where thoughtful leadership and community-driven solutions can influence progress far beyond our borders.
